Bonnie Brewer
Instructor & Choreographer TapBonnie began dancing at the age of six, spending her childhood training and competing throughout Central Florida. By the age of twelve, she realized that tap dancing was where her heart truly belonged and began focusing her training to further develop her skills in the style. At just fifteen, Bonnie started guest teaching while continuing to refine her technique through classes with renowned tap artists such as Dianne Walker, Brenda Bufalino, Omar Edwards, and Savion Glover.
Bonnie attended East Carolina University, where she earned a degree in Sports Medicine with a minor in K–12 Health Education. During her time at ECU, she performed in several dance productions and was a member of the Eastern North Carolina Jazz/Tap Ensemble, traveling across the state to teach and perform. She also worked with local studios, helping to strengthen and expand their tap programs.
Bonnie is an inspiring tap teacher whose classes are known for being fun, energetic, and engaging—often leaving students excited and eager for more. She has developed a thoughtful curriculum that explores the many facets of tap dancing, encouraging students to grow not only in technique but also in musicality, style, and appreciation for the art form. Bonnie’s high-energy, upbeat, and outside-the-box competition numbers consistently captivate audiences and judges alike. Her choreography has earned numerous special recognitions and overall awards at both regional and national competitions, reflecting her passion, creativity, and commitment to excellence.
After graduating, Bonnie returned to Florida and began her career in education and athletics in 2004 as a Certified Athletic Trainer and high school Health and Physical Education teacher. She currently works full-time at Lake Mary Preparatory School, where she serves as the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Director. In addition, she teaches four levels of Sports Medicine courses, coaches Girls Weightlifting and Girls Flag Football, and oversees a Junior Sports Medicine program for lower school students.
